WiFi Setup and Site Survey

WiFi Setup and Site Survey: Design and Deployment

An efficient WiFi network is essential to your organization's performance. It offers employees and visitors the opportunity to share data and work without interruptions. During a site survey, we identify the RF conditions and offer advice, design and implementation for the optimal placement of access points, channel planning and network capacity.

How to conduct a WiFi Site Survey

1

Define goals and requirements

Together with the client, the network goals and technical requirements are determined, such as minimum signal strength (e.g. -65 dBm), throughput, latency and the number of users. Detailed plans and environmental factors, such as wall materials and sources of interference, are collected.

2

Preparation

A preliminary design is being made of the access point locations based on coverage requirements and network capacity. Spectrum analysis tools are used to identify interference from non-WiFi sources (e.g., Bluetooth, microwaves).

3

Perform a passive survey

Implementation of improvements and new technologies for a stronger network

4

Active survey with temporary access points

Temporary access points are strategically placed for an active survey. Signal strength (RSSI), noise level (SNR), and actual throughput (TCP/UDP tests) are measured to identify dead zones, channel overlap, and interference areas.

5

Validation and documentation

After optimization, a validation survey is conducted to confirm that coverage and performance meet the requirements. All settings, coverage maps, and performance results are documented for future maintenance and reference.
